Knowledge vs Information
Media information has little relevance to our daily lifes. It operates by utilizing the three-pronged behavioral truisms: fear, rage, and love. It creates fear over rarities, rage over insignificant minutia, and love for superficiality.
But these are not reasons to desire, abhor, or avoid the news media.
Despites its entertainment value the info-media complex creates toxic effects on the interpreters worldview. How can we prepare society for all the potential eventualities the media incurs? Perhaps we should read more books.
Books contain information which is constructed into knowledge by the authors logic and subsequently interpreted by the readers reasoning. News media contains information that is presented for no other purpose than the readers desire to consume in hopes of being better off for that consumption. Books structure information that leads to knowledge. Knowledge is useful information. Therefore news media is the anti-thesis to knowledge.
Do you choose knowledge or information?
